I am always on the lookout for nontoxic products for my chemical-free life. I recently discovered an amazing product to substitute for fabric softener and dryer sheets. I like soft clothes but I don't like the toxic ingredients in most commercially produced fabric softeners. The solution to this conundrum? Wool dryer balls! .Toss a couple in the dryer and they will soften everything as they tumble around the drum with your clothes. I was skeptical that something so simple could work. But it does. I have used them on everything from a small load of delicates to an extra large load of thick towels. I tossed in one ball with the small load and three with the towels. For a regular size load, I use two of the wool dryer balls. Everything has come out of the dryer soft and fluffy. As a bonus, the wool dryer balls cut drying time by about 25%. So, I'm reducing my exposure to toxic ingredients and saving energy.

I found my wool dryer balls on Amazon, There are lots of options. Look for dryer balls made from 100% organic wool with no fillers or added fragrance.
